Physalis is a perennial herb up to 90 cm tall with a creeping rhizome. It grows well in sunny places, although it tolerates partial shade. In July, it blooms with white inconspicuous flowers. However, in the fall, large, paper-like lanterns of red-orange color appear in their place.
In September, the plants can be cut, dried and used for winter bouquets. A very decorative plant, but it grows quickly, so planting should be limited, otherwise they will fill the entire garden. Any garden soil is suitable. The plant is hardy.
